Charles Syer went around town in the early 1880s with a hidden camera, taking candid snapshots of daily life. His collection is quite fabulous. I had a lot of fun bringing to life this one of the steam tram stop by the railway. On consideration, I think the large lady may well be with child rather than just big, which may have spurred the subject.
