This would later be the site of the Regent Theatre, which itself was demolished in the 1980s and would sit vacant for years.

Looking south west from Government House. Some of the sights are; at bottom right, The Girls' School of Industry, built 1826, demolished in 1879 for the Garden Palace. At centre, is the Iron Church, built 1856, later converted to the Public Library, disassembled and rebuilt elsewhere in 1911. Directly behind is the spire of St James Church, and in the distant right is St Andrews Cathedral under construction.

Juniper Hall, later Ormond House, in Oxford Street. Converted to a boarding house, the front garden is being carved out to construct a row of shops. They in turn were demolished when the National Trust restored the estate in 1988.
